The long-awaited sequel to Lowcountry Boil. Sam Larkin, former environmental law enforcement officer and ex-con, is no stranger to violence. He is coaxed—under false pretenses—from the serenity of his lowcountry home in South Carolina by Karen Chaney, a federal officer and Sam’s erstwhile lover. Sam soon finds himself drawn into an investigation of Louisiana Senator Thornton Hunnycutt, the man about to be tapped for a vice-presidential candidacy… and the former judge who unjustly sent Sam to prison twelve years prior.
The return to the personal and political swamps of Louisiana, a state he is forbidden by his release agreement ever to enter again; a visitation with the ex-wife for whom he bears immeasurable guilt; his growing distrust of Agent Chaney and the federal restrictions she represents… these elements ignite within Sam and propel him on a difficult and increasingly dangerous quest for justice and personal retributions. The heat rises as one man with a cause goes to war against Good Ol’ Boy corruption and greed, now to be found at the highest levels of politics.

You'll smell the swamp air, feel the steamy, sticky heat of the bayous next to your skin, even believe you're really down there amongst the Spanish moss, delapidated mansions, and accents so thick, they drip. So lean back, fellow readers, adjust the headrest, and let Carl stomp down on the accelerator. It's a fine ride through a marvelous, sometimes frightening, landscape, to a destination you won't soon forget!" "Louisiana Burn serves as a preservation piece for the Katrina-devastated Gulf Coast’s scenery, smells, food, and people. But it also evokes the classic crime novels of Chandler, Hammett, and
