"Black Magic" Premiers

"Black Magic," a two-part, four hour film about the special struggles of black college basketball coaches before the Civil Rights Movement took hold, premiered on ESPN March 16 and March 17 at 9 PM ET.

Ben Jobe, a coach featured in the documentary, is the subject of a forthcoming biography by Joe Formichella, Staying Ahead of the Posse: The Ben Jobe Story, which will be published in April.

2008 FRED BONNIE AWARD WINNER ANNOUNCED

River City Publishing is proud to announce Marie Manilla as the winner of the 2008 Fred Bonnie Award contest. Her novel Shrapnel was chosen from among five finalists by this year's judge Daniel Wallace (Big Fish , Mr. Sebastian and the Negro Magician).
